Dementia & Other Cognitive Disorders

Dementia is not a specific disease; rather it is a term that describes a wide array of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills that interfere with a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. Alzheimer’s disease accounts for approximately 60% of all cases, but dementia may also be caused by vascular dementia, Lewy body disease and multiple other disorders as well. ¬†Some medical conditions that can mimic dementia are reversible, and our team is committed to providing a comprehensive, individualized evaluation for each patient, starting with a complete history and exam. ¬†Imaging, neuropsychological evaluation and other testing may be performed as well when needed.
